In consideration of the safety of our students and staff, Wood County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 6th, due to anticipated inclement weather and cold temperatures.
See flyer for JEC sponsored skating party. Current JEC students will have their skate rental fee paid. All others are $1 per rental. January 13 from 6-8pm. Legal Aid will also be available to provide information to families regarding the Lawyers in Schools program.
As a reminder, the JEC Social Studies Fair will be held on Thursday, January 9. Students will present their projects to the judges during the school day. Please have your participating child make final preparations and practice giving their speech. Scorecard and all other important information can be found at:

Attention grade 4 families: Grade 4 will hold a parent engagement activity tomorrow, Dec. 19 at 2pm. We hope to see you there!
Attention Kindergarten families: The Kindergarten / PreK Christmas Program will be held tomorrow, Dec. 19 at 1 PM in the JEC auditorium. Kindergarten will also hold a parent engagement activity directly afterwards.
PreK families: As a reminder, the PreK Family Engagement activity is scheduled for tomorrow, Dec. 19 at 9:30 AM. Also, PreK and Kindergarten will be putting on a short Christmas Program at 1 PM in the JEC Auditorium.
Grades 1 & 2 will have a short Christmas program tomorrow at 1:30 in the JEC auditorium. Seating is limited. Please enter at auditorium (located by BOE building).
Wood County Schools has announced that pre-kindergarten (pre-k) registration for the 2025-2026 school year will commence on February 3, 2025. Children must be four years old by June 30, 2025 (or qualify for special education IEP services). The district offers free pre-kindergarten classes to eligible children, providing early childhood education to prepare them for future academic success. Families- as you attend JEC event and activities this week, please see the office to obtain your child's 5 day meal box (if you signed up for one).
PLEASE SEE TIME ADJUSTMENT ON GRADE 1 & 2 PROGRAM- Changed to 1:30 PM on Wed., Dec. 18.
Grade 1 and Grade 3 will host a parent engagement opportunity (independently) on Tuesday, December. 17 at 2pm. Students will read a book and make an ornament. Hope you can join us!
Grade 4 will visit Blennerhassett School on Tuesday, Dec. 17 for an American Pops Orchestra performance in the morning as part of Artsbridge. Students will return before lunch.
Don't forget the grade 5 parent engagement activity at 1:15 tomorrow! Monday, December 16. Hope to see you there!
As a reminder, second grade will be building and decorating their gingerbread houses today at 1:45. Families are welcome to join us! We hope to see you there.
If you completed the survey for the 5 day meal boxes for your JEC child, they will be available next week (Dec. 16-19) for distribution. Your child's name will be checked off the list upon receipt, and a waiting list will be created to accommodate any extras. Any unclaimed food boxes will be be available Dec. 20.
Congratulations to Sophia Modesitt for receiving an Honorable Mention for her project in the Chemistry Category in the county Science Fair yesterday!
Families! If you use ROOMS to send an update on a student's absence, please include the first and last name of the child followed by the reason for the absence. If you have Doctor's note, please attach as well. Absences should be reported within 3 days of the absence.
