Good evening. This is Christie Willis, superintendent of Wood County Schools. During this time of giving and celebration, time spent with the warmth of family and friends is so important. Wood County Schools would like to thank you for your support and dedication and wish you a joyous holiday season. Schools will be closed beginning Thursday, December 22nd. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd. Wishing you good health and peace in the upcoming New Year.

As a reminder, Social Studies fair is tomorrow! All projects should have the following: display board, completed abstract and a prepared speech. Visit https://wvssfair.com/ to preview judges scorecard, download an abstract or review rules.
*Typed abstracts are preferred. If students do not have access to a printer, please forward a copy in an email to be printed at school.


Christmas dance Thursday, December 15 from 5-7pm. $3 entry to benefit Student Government. *Must not be on social probation to attend.


Reminder of Spirit week! Begins Thursday, Dec. 15.


The 6th Grade Girls BBall Game scheduled for Van Devender @ Edison, tomorrow, Wed. Dec. 14 has been canceled.
*The 7/8th Grade Game WILL STILL BE PLAYED!!! Tip Off for that Game has been moved up to 4:30 PM.

Grade 6 basketball game at Jackson canceled for this evening (Monday, Dec. 12)
Grades 7/8 will play at Jackson at 4:30pm ( bumped up from 5:45) this evening, Dec. 12

As a reminder, choir and band concert Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 6pm in the Vandy gym.


Spirit week begins Thursday, Dec. 15.


As a reminder, all students should be finishing up their REQUIRED social studies projects. Projects are due next Friday, December 16 as part of their history grade. Students have been given time, materials and research access during the school day. Participation in the social studies fair on December 19 is optional.
All students should complete an abstract (even if they are not participating in the fair). They should also be preparing an oral presentation and display board (trifold boards provided to students earlier this week in class).

Vandy Gift Drive will run from Nov. 28 - Dec. 16.


ATTENTION:
Vandy will be modifying it’s bell schedule by a total of 7 minutes effective Monday, November 28. We are allowing extra transition time between classes to allow students ample time for transitions, restroom breaks and/or water bottle refills. For parents, this means our dismissal time will be 3:15 pm instead of 3:08 pm. Bus departures will not be affected. Doors will continue to open at 7:30 am and classes will continue to begin promptly at 8:00 am.
Again, dismissal time moved from 3:08 to 3:15 effective Monday, November 28.

Van Devender Middle School is thankful for its staff, students and community families!


The 2022-23 Wrestling Team Weight Certification for Hamilton, Van Devender, & Jackson Wrestling Teams will be Tuesday, November 29 at PHS. They will take place in the Big Red Wrestling Locker Room starting at 5:00 PM.

We would like to remind you that Wood County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8th as our school buildings will be used for election day voting centers. Schools will reopen Wednesday morning. We hope you have a nice evening.
