Did you know that around 4 million deaths are prevented, worldwide, from childhood vaccinations? Vaccines assist the immune system by teaching how to create antibodies; that protect against diseases. Students that are entering 7th and 12th grade are required to receive a TDap and Meningococcal vaccines. TDap protects against the whopping cough and diphtheria which are two highly contagious and severe respiratory illnesses. Tetanus can cause severe muscle spasms and paralysis which can lead to respiratory failure .The Meningococcal vaccine protects against meningitis, an infection that attacks the membranes and fluids that protect the spinal cord and brain. These illnesses are exhausting and painful. They can also be deadly. Don't Hesitate, Vaccinate.

It is still required by law to receive necessary vaccinations. Prior to entering 7th grade, your student should have received the TDap and Meningococcal vaccinations. The school will be holding a vaccination clinic on May 1. This will occur during the school day and your student would receive these vaccinations and be able to return to class. You do not have to be present. The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department is assisting various schools in ensuring the well-being of our students. Contact the school for consent forms.

Good morning,
This is Mr. Echard principal of Van Devender Middle School. On April 16th and April 17th our 6th and 7th grade students will be having a bump up day to the middle schools they will be attending next school year. The students will be visiting the school they are assigned to attend based off of the new district lines that were determined at the last board of education meeting. Students will be bused from Vandy to their designated school, will go on a tour of the school, will have lunch at the school and will be bused back to Vandy afterwards. This will be done between the hours of 8:30am-1:30pm. If you have questions about which Middle School your child will attend, you can contact Vandy and we will let you know.
Open enrollment opened up on April 1st. If you would like for your child to attend a school other than your assigned school you can make a request by going to the Wood County Schools Website and searching for the open enrollment option. Please contact us if you have any questions.
I hope you have a great day and always remember to Be Kind, Work Hard and Represent.
