Due to the overwhelming disturbance and safety concerns we are having with food being ordered by students at lunchtime and being dropped off, starting Friday May 21st, students may not have food delivered or dropped off by anyone unless it is your parent/guardian. We have recently been dealing with situations of food being delivered not paid for, or dropped off inappropriately, or delivered while the student is supposed to be in class. As a school we would just like to have better knowledge and control as to who is entering the property which should only be school business related. When UberEATS, or Grub Hub, or whoever from XYZ food company is coming onto campus, it is an unnecessary distraction and concern for us. Parents in order to drop off food, all food must be brought in by you to the main entrance. Students are not permitted to leave campus during lunch, are not permitted to have food items delivered to the cafeteria, or front doors, or the side street. Parents/Guardians should not bring restaurant food items to the school to be delivered to their students that can be shared with anyone else other than your student. A prime example would be a Parent/Guardian bringing a pizza to their student to be shared with their friends. That cannot occur! Students may not meet someone outside the building to receive items. If you need to bring something to a student, you must bring it into the office, with your photo id and we will call your child to the office to get it when it is their lunchtime. All food orders will be turned away or confiscated that are not dropped off by the parent whether they are paid for or not. If you have any further questions, please call the Admin Office.

Except for the 10 left in my office, all caps and gowns have been distributed. Please remember to take your gown out of the bag and hang it up. DO NOT IRON IT; It can be steamed to get rid of the wrinkles. All males should wear dress pants, dress shoes, and a dress shirt that evening. All females should wear a light-colored dress and flats (no heels). We do have a clothes closet for those financially unable to get what they need for graduation. Please see Mrs. Ott for more information. Graduation will also be live streamed on our Facebook page for those unable to attend. More graduation questions will be answered as we get closer to the date. Thank you and have a good evening. (pt 2 of 2)

Graduation will take place Saturday, May 29th, at 5:00 in Stadium Field. In case of inclement weather, the graduation will be moved inside to the Field House. The venue of outside or inside graduation greatly effects the number of tickets a graduate will receive to hand out to those that want to attend. If graduation is inside, grads will use their 5 INSIDE tickets for guests. Overall PHS must stay at 2000 people or below which is 75% of our capacity inside the Field House. If graduation is outside, grads will use their 8 OUTSIDE tickets for guests. Overall, we must stay at 3000 people or below which is 75% of our capacity in the stadium. Tickets will be required upon entry along with mask wearing. Tickets will be a different color for inside or outside. You must wear a mask and have the correct color of ticket to enter…NO EXCEPTIONS! Please call your counselor if you are not walking at graduation. If you do not call, we will assume you are walking. GRADUATION PRACTICE IS REQUIRED for those walking! Graduation practice will take place on May 27th and 28th in the FH at 8:30am. Color Day is May 26th at 10:00am (more information coming in a separate call). Those not walking will not be able to come by and pick up their diploma until Tuesday, June 1st. If you still have outstanding debts, please pay them ASAP. (pt 1 of 2)

As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to personally say ‘Thank You’ to all of Wood County Schools’ selfless and dedicated educators. This has been one of the most challenging school years in recent history. Our teachers have not only endured nearly impossible tasks but have risen to the challenge and have continued to place our students first. Our teachers and personnel have dedicated countless hours keeping students engaged, providing support and care to families, and giving our children a beacon of normalcy in an often turbulent and uncertain world. The work you do each day is more appreciated than you will ever know. Wood County Schools is blessed to have so many caring and dedicated teachers, and I want all of you to know: We see what you are doing and what you have done, and we are thankful you are here. Thank you for making a difference!
