Hello this is PHS with an important message.
In conjunction with the Fleming Family, PHS will be hosting the Fleming Family Press Conference on Thursday, May 25th, @ 4:30 PM on the school's front steps. Our goal is to allow Gretchen's Family to have a platform to help #bringgretchenhome . PHS will also be selling t-shirts that contain artwork made by Gretchen's sister, Emma. All shirts are $20 and all proceeds will be donated to the reward for information/evidence. Please come out and support the Fleming Family. Gretchen is a 2013 Graduate of Parkersburg High School. Thank you!

Good afternoon, this is Christie Willis, superintendent of Wood County Schools. Unforeseen traffic issues today have delayed eight Wood County Schools buses bringing students back from field trips in Charleston. This will cause a 30-45 minute dismissal delay for students on those buses and for student who ride those buses home. Students who are delayed at the school will continue to be supervised until the buses arrive. This delay includes students riding bus numbers 80, 81, 169, 176, 183, 184 and 218. This affects students from Williamstown Middle High School, Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg South High School, Jackson Middle, Edison Middle, Blennerhassett Middle, Hamilton Middle, Neale Elementary, Lubeck Elementary, Blennerhassett Elementary, Kanawha Elementary and Williamstown Elementary schools. We apologize for the inconvenience and want to assure everyone that students are safe and in good hands. The safety of students is our number one priority. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this situation.

The horseshoe will blocked off for all staff and student drop off tomorrow due to Senior Color Day. If you typically drop off your student by the front door, you may drop them off at the end of the horseshoe/fieldhouse and they can walk up, or you may drop them off out back by the bus canopy.
iPad collection has already taken place for 12th and 11th grade. If you have not turned yours in, please do so immediately. 10th grade collection will take place this Thursday the 18th and 9th grade will be Monday the 22nd.

Color Day update: As a correction to last night's all call about Color Day, any flag you would wish to display on your vehicle for the parade must be approved when you are lining up. You can not place any other decorations on your vehicle, including flags, once you leave the horseshoe.
Order of events:
Lineup from 7:30am-10am. Vehicles will be inspected!
Senior flag 10:am.
Parade will commence afterwards by going down Washington Ave, around the Park, and back up Washington Avenue.
Chill n' grill afterwards in the stadium!

This is a message from PHS: If you are a Junior and you did not turn in your iPad today as planned, please make sure to bring your charged iPad to school with both charging block and cord tomorrow. Save any documents you think you could need to OneDrive. Library computers are available if you have make-up work you need to submit after turning your iPad in. We appreciate your diligence.

Attention Prom Guests! Thanks to the great effort of Grand Point, they have worked out a way for us to have More a walk-in at Prom. Since we ARE having a walk-in now, it will start at 6:30 and hopefully move much faster than normal since the attendees are walking a shorter distance. There will be a photographer outside taking pictures of the walk-in, and a photographer inside taking pictures.

Seniors were given yellow half sheets of paper to write down any academic awards they know they are receiving. These sheets need to be returned in order for students to be recognized at the Awards Ceremony on May 19th at 10:00AM. Have students return the forms to the Civics/AP Gov't teacher that passed it out no later than Friday.

This is PHS with an important message to all Juniors. Current 11th graders please do not forget that you must have a meningitis vaccine prior to the 2023 school year. Our school-based health center is going to offer the vaccine the week of May 15th. If you are interested in receiving this vaccine here at school, please stop and see Nurse Danielle for the paperwork or you can have your parent or guardian call the school and Nurse Danielle will send the form home. Please refer to the image online for the required immunizations from the WVDE.

Junior, Senior prom this year will be on Saturday May 7th from 7-10pm at the Grand Pointe in Vienna. You may line up at Grand Pointe starting at 6:00 with doors opening at 6:30. There will not be a lineup like we would on campus due to us renting the facility. We have already asked and with multiple businesses who use the side walk and parking lot, we will not be able to prevent traffic or block it due to safety. However there will be multiple photographers that will be there to take pictures once entering the doors. We will also be setting up a background or arch in front of the Senior Doors starting at 1pm Saturday if you would like to have you photo taken in front of the school. We will be taking it back down that evening. Once you exit the building on prom night, there will be no readmittance. Please make sure your ride picks you up at 10pm. It’s important to keep your ticket and have a student ID since both will be required to enter Prom.
We will stop selling prom tickets in the Finance office at the end of 2nd lunch on Friday the 6th. Tickets will be sold during both lunches all week. Tickets are $30 dollars per person. We are no longer accepting outside guest forms; those were due by 4/14 due to the head count needed for Grand Pointe. All Juniors and Seniors can purchase their prom tickets at the previously mentioned times. If your date is a sophomore, then they must accompany you when you purchase your tickets unless your date is a virtual/remote student. In that case, we must have a note from their parent when you come to buy their ticket that they will be attending. Those students must also be eligible to attend. When you come to purchase your prom ticket, it may be possible that you are on prom probation, and you will not be able to purchase a ticket. If that is they case, you will have a conversation with Mrs. Ray on what the issue is. A Principal has the right to approve or disapprove you going to the prom based upon attendance, or behavior, or any other school related issue. Going to prom is a privilege and not a right, and if it is important to you and to your student to go to prom then they should be following school guidelines faithfully.
We look forward to seeing you this Saturday and we want you to have a safe and enjoyable evening. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 304-420-9595.
