Yesterday during lunch, Reagan Farley noticed her friend was choking and immediately told staff on duty. Although our staff is always moving around monitoring, things like this can happen in an instant and we are thankful that Reagan acted as she did, which may have saved her friend’s life. We are forever grateful to Reagan.
We would also like to congratulate Emily Shuman on winning first place in the regional social studies fair this past week with her project “Allowances Then and Now”.
Finally, congratulations to the Greenmont Boys Basketball team on their victory last night in the playoffs. Our boys play in the championship game Thursday versus Williamstown at 6:30pm.

Grizzly PreK Registration News!
PREK registration for the 2024-2025 school year will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 beginning at 8:00am. WCS has decided to have all schools begin PREK registration at the same time beginning at 8:00am.
PREK enrollment is based on a time-stamped application, which is on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to get a time stamp, you must have (1) the actual CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH and (2) up-to-date immunization records. The CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH is from Charleston and is not the same as one from a courthouse or hospital. You can apply for a CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH online, go to the DHHR office in Charleston or get a paper copy of the application from our school's secretary and send it in the mail or take it to the office in Charleston .
You will also need to provide a well-child exam or record of a doctor's visit, record of a dental exam and social security card for the child. We also ask that you provide us with proof of your home address via a WV driver's license or utility bill.
Please contact our school or stop in our office with ANY questions or to make sure you have the proper birth certificate.
Grizzly Chaperones,
Any parent that wishes to be considered to be a chaperone on ANY Greenmont field trip MUST have a WCS Volunteer Background Check on file with our school. The Background checks must be valid for the day of the trip. A paper copy must be provided to Mr. Ubbens prior to the trip or you will not accompany our group. Background checks are taking much longer than the past so please apply ASAP via the WCS website. Parents MAY NOT be with a field trip group without a background check. A letter with instructions will be going home shortly. Please call our school with any questions.
Go to: woodcountyschoolswv.com+Human Resources+Volunteer Background Check+Volunteer (pay $16.45 on your credit card)+Parent-Community member volunteer.
Grizzly Attendance Letters are prepared to go out for three and five day unexcused absences .
Wood County Schools' Student Services will be following up with these parents as their child has been excessively absent. It is in a parent's best interests to correct any attendance issues before WCS Student Services follows up. In total, we have over 40 letters going home, which is a high percentage of our homes.
Please contact our school's secretary, Stacy Allender, if you need assistance @
