Open Enrollment begins at noon today (Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024). If you would like your child to attend a school outside of your current attendance zone, you must complete the online enrollment form. The link opens at noon today.
Wood County Schools' open enrollment process will change for the 2024-2025 school year. All open enrollment requests are to be made beginning on January 16 at noon on our website at woodcountyschoolswv.com/enrollment. The enrollment is also available on the WCS app. If your child currently attends a school out of district, or you would like for your child to attend a school out of district, you will need to complete an online application. Although the form is simple to complete, if you feel you may need some assistance with the application process, or you do not have access to a device or the internet, all secretaries at our schools have an iPad and can assist you beginning at noon on Tuesday, January 16.
If you child attends the school that corresponds to your home address, and you wish for this to continue, there is no action needed on your part.

Grizzlies,
A reminder that there will not be school Monday, January 15, 2023 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
WCS Open Enrollment begins at noon on Tuesday, January 16. In-district households don’t have to do anything. All out-of-district households must apply for the 2024-2025 school year beginning at noon by visiting www.woodcountyschoolswv.com (this is NOT for PRE-K).
Lastly, the weather this week will be much colder and parents must be sure their children dress warm.. We suggest having a sweat shirt/hoodie to wear inside the building each day as the temperatures drop this week as well as a winter coat/hat/gloves as we may be outside for brain breaks or recess. Stay warm!
Greetings Grizzlies!
Wood County Schools recently sent a message regarding “Open Enrollment” for next school year. If you are in district, you don’t have to do anything.
If you are out of district, on January 16, 2024 beginning at 12:00pm, you must go online to woodcountyschoolswv.com and apply for out of district status for the 2024-2025 school year (excludes prek) regardless of how long you’ve been at Greenmont. Our school’s secretary will have an IPad to use on 1/16/24 at 12:00pm if you need help.
This process is new and is in a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions, feel free to call our school or email our principal, Mr. Ubbens, at bubbens@k12.wv.us

Good Afternoon Greenmont!
As we come back to school Friday, January 5, 2024 the breakfast will be sausage pancakes and the lunch will be spaghetti and meatballs.
Our school was closed today due to a water line break just outside our building. The water line break did not affect anything in our building and has now been repaired.
We are thankful of the work of our two custodians (Chris and Clark), WCS maintenance personnel and City of Vienna Public Works personnel as they worked together to locate and repair the leak.
Staff,
Due to a water leak at our school, our school will be closed tomorrow. Staff is NOT required to report. Maintenance and the City of Vienna will work together to fix the leak.
Please do not notify parents as this will be handled by the superintendent. See you all Friday hopefully.
Our evening custodian, Clark Rader, heard the leak and reported it.
DearGrizzlies,
As we finished up 2023 today, we saw several hundred visitors come to our Christmas performance and parties. Our staff and students are very grateful to all that were able to come today to support our school community. As our staff finishes 2023 tomorrow, we will be having meetings, making lesson plans for the first week of 2024, entering grades, redoing bulletin boards, attending trainings and changing our school over from Christmas to winter. Our staff has certainly earned a rest over Christmas Break. On behalf of our school community, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE THE BIG GAME
Twas' the night before the BIG game, Grizzlies snuggled in their beds,
while visions of a basketball championship raced through their heads
Our community would be there, to cheer on our girls,
who had straight hair, and short hair and some in pretty curls
Our coaches prepared and taught every last move,
as our Grizzlies hustled and jumped and rebounded and moved
Our Lady Grizzlies worked hard, enjoyed themselves as they could,
and were good to one another as all Great Grizzlies should
Regardless the outcome, or what the score may be,
thank you Lady Grizzlies for representing, our great Greenmont Community
As we all head to the big game, at 6:30 tomorrow night,
