Greenmont Parents, Today is the final day to complete the WVDE School Learning Environment Survey (Parent Survey). Information on this survey was sent out earlier in the year. If you have five minutes and wish to inform the state about our school's learning environment your time would be appreciated. Special Pictures We will be taking group pictures (tomorrow morning only) for our yearbook of our boys and girls track teams as well as those 4th/5th graders interested in archery this year. We will take the pictures tomorrow morning and we ask that those students please wear Grizzly Gear for the track and archery pictures.

Grizzly Track Track practice today (April 11) is for 10U boys and girls ONLY. Practice will be held rain or shine. Please don't forget our PTA CARNIVAL is Friday, April 19 from 5-7pm. Donations of CAKES (PK-2) and 2 LITERS OF SODA (3-5) can be brought to the main office any day.

Grizzly Track Update! *Thursday's track practice will be for boys and girls 10U ONLY. *No practice on Friday. *First track meet will be for 10U boys and girls at PHS on Monday, April 15. Students arrive at 4:45 pm. *Special thanks to our track coaches Nicole Martin and Maggie Greer.

Dear Greenmont, Our Third Nine Weeks AWARDS ASSEMBLY is being held on Monday, April 8 beginning at 8:30am. We will recognize students for various successes in their classroom and school-wide. Parents that wish to attend the assembly must sign-in at the front office and provide a valid ID. Our Third Nine Weeks REWARD ACTIVITY is being held on Friday, April 19 which is a petting zoo. Grizzly Eclipsers! As you know, Monday, April 8 we will have a solar eclipse. An informational sheet went home Wednesday to all parents and solar eclipse glasses were given to classroom teachers yesterday. In following the WCS directives, we will keep students inside from 12:00-dismissal. If teachers wish to have students observe the eclipse, students will only be permitted to do so when wearing the special solar eclipse glasses provided by WCS. If you have any questions about the solar eclipse, please refer to the handout sent home on Wednesday or call our school.

Grizzlies! Our school spelling bee is this Friday (April 5) beginning at 8:30 am with primary grades. Once the primary spelling bee has finished we will move onto the intermediate spelling bee. Parents that wish to attend will have to sign in the front office and provide ID before being permitted into the gym to watch. Track try-outs are Thursday, April 4 for girls (3:10-4:30) and Friday, April 5 for boys (3:10-4:30). A permission slip will be going home today for any students wishing to try-out.

Buses may be delayed this morning due to high water in several areas across the county. We appreciate your patience as we work to safely pick up and deliver students this morning.

All Wood County Schools after-school and evening activities will be CANCELLED tonight (Tuesday, April 2, 2024) due to incoming inclement weather. Schools will dismiss at their normal times today.

Greenmont Update. 1. Wood County Schools is operating with a full school day today. 2. The YMCA After School Program will be operating today as usual. Please call our school with any questions. Have a great day!

Grizzlies, The final day to turn in money for a yearbook is Wednesday, April 3. Please make checks payable to Greenmont Elementary School for the amount of $17.00. Yearbooks can no longer be purchased online.

Grizzlies! Due to impending weather expected for tomorrow, the PTA meeting scheduled for 6:30pm Tuesday night has been rescheduled for 6:30pm Wednesday evening. A reminder we will be discussing PTA officers for next year so if you’re interested please attend. We look forward to seeing our students back tomorrow morning!

Grizzlies! Spring Break has arrived! As our staff and students embark on their Spring Break fun, we wanted to remind everyone that students don't return to school until Tuesday, April 2, 2024 as April 1 is a PL Day (no school). Enjoy your Spring Break!

Greenmont, Yearbook orders were supposed to be due NLT Friday, March 29, 2024. As this date is actually during Spring Break, the yearbook orders will now be due NLT Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in cash or check form. If you wish, you may pay online, but the online orders are due NLT March 29, 2024. To pay online go to: inter-state.com/order You will then enter the code 83193K. Yearbooks cost $17.00.

Greenmont Parents, This week has been a very difficult week for many of our Greenmont families and staff due to the unexpected tragedy in our community. With this in mind, a local Vienna counseling center is offering free help sessions for Greenmont parents on Friday, March 22, 2024. The sessions are designed to help parents navigate their own feelings and/or discuss how to talk with their kids about the recent devastating loss in our community. The available times will be 11:00am-2:00 pm and 3:00pm-6:00pm. Grizzlies! The Easter Bunny is visiting Greenmont on Thursday, March 21! Our students will be greeted at drop-off as well as get a special bag of "goodies" after students go to their classrooms. Thank you Easter Bunny for taking time before you hop into Easter!

Grizzlies! We will have our monthly PTA meeting for March this Tuesday night beginning at 6:30pmin our library. All parents and staff are welcome to attend. Please call or stop in the office if you have any questions.

Grizzlies! The Greenmont Spelling Bee is scheduled for Friday, April 5, 2024. Parents are welcome to attend after they sign-in and provide a valid ID. We wish to advise any parents wishing to attend either Spelling Bee to be at our school when we begin at 8:30 am. Students participating will have their lists to study from all of next week, the week of Spring Break (March 25-29) and the week after Spring Break. Best of luck to all of our participants!

Grizzlies! Today is an exciting day for Greenmont as our Boys Basketball team is playing in the championship game at 6:30 pm at Jefferson Elementary School. Please come out and support our boys as they try to bring another championship to our school!
