Open Enrollment begins at noon today (Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024). If you would like your child to attend a school outside of your current attendance zone, you must complete the online enrollment form. The link opens at noon today.

Wood County Schools' open enrollment process will change for the 2024-2025 school year. All open enrollment requests are to be made beginning on January 16 at noon on our website at woodcountyschoolswv.com/enrollment. The enrollment is also available on the WCS app. If your child currently attends a school out of district, or you would like for your child to attend a school out of district, you will need to complete an online application. Although the form is simple to complete, if you feel you may need some assistance with the application process, or you do not have access to a device or the internet, all secretaries at our schools have an iPad and can assist you beginning at noon on Tuesday, January 16.
If you child attends the school that corresponds to your home address, and you wish for this to continue, there is no action needed on your part.

Jan and Chip Pickering stopped by this week and shared their Appalachian Trail journey with our fourth and fifth graders. They shared a wonderful example of having a life long dream and how to set goals and make the dream come true! Students also learned scientific and geographic information about how the mountains formed. Thank you Jan and Chip for investing in our students!

Families,
Just an FYI
I spoke with the students this morning about the expectations for cell phones and Apple Watches. The policy is the same. Students may have them before and after school. During the school day, the items should remain in their backpacks/lockers. If a teacher sees that a student has a cell phone or smart watch in class, they will take it and return it at the end of the day. If the phone/watch is a distraction a second time, the teacher will take the item and send it to the office. The parent will be required to pick it up at school. If you would like to read the policy for electronic devices it can be found on the Wood County Schools page. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Out-of-District procedures for Wood County Schools is changing for next year. Open enrollment will begin on January 16. You must apply on-line. If your child is currently attending Williamstown as an out-of-district student, you will need to apply when the window opens. The link will be posted on the Wood County Schools page. I will provide more information in the near future.
