Tonight our Lady Jackets take on Wahama at home. This game will be varsity only starting at 7:30. Doors will not open until 6:45. Please come out and support our Lady Jacket Basketball Team.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Wood County Board of Education will meet in special session Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, to conduct candidate interviews and appoint an interim board member to a vacant seat. The board has consulted with the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wood County Clerk’s Office and has been advised, due to election cycle deadlines, a selection must be made by February 12, 2024.
The online application period for those interested in applying for the interim position will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, February 12. The board meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. to announce the candidates and interviews will begin at 6:00 p.m. An appointment announcement will follow the completion of the interviews on February 12.
Those submitting an application by Sunday, February 11, will be informed of their interview time before 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12. Applicants submitting applications on Monday, February 12, will be contacted as applications are received throughout the day to have interviews arranged for that evening.

Last Friday, we had our 2nd nine-week reward day at Skate Country for the middle school students who finished the nine weeks with no discipline issues, no unexcused absences, and no Fs on their report cards! Huge shoutout to these hardworking yellow jackets, and a big thank you to our academic boosters for making this possible!







The girls basketball game scheduled for tonight has been postponed until February 14. This will also be Gold Rush and Senior Night. Game times will be 6:00 and 7:00. The game will also be live streamed https://tinyurl.com/whsjacketslive


Don't forget about the school-based dental clinic scheduled for February 13th and 14th. This is a great opportunity for students who do not have a dentist or haven't been seen by a dentist in over a year. The clinic will provide teeth cleaning, fluoride treatment, and sealants. Students can turn in their completed consent form to Nurse Danielle. If you are interested and need a consent form, contact Nurse Danielle at 304-375-6151.

Due to illness within the opposing team, the high school girls basketball game scheduled for tonight has been cancelled. It will not be re-scheduled.

We are having open auditions for the spring play "Hallmarks of Horror", a parody making fun of scary movies. We need actors, extras, and technical crew. It is open to all grades. Students must have 2.0 average gpa, and come to all practices. Auditions will continue tomorrow (2/2/24) during 0 period in the auditorium. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Whipkey.


Students entering 7th and 12th grade- The Mid Ohio Valley Health Department is collaborating with Wood County Schools to offer an immunization clinic for children needing their Tdap and Meningitis vaccines. Our school based clinic is scheduled for April 9th. Parents do not need to be present on campus but a completed consent form and screening questionnaire are required. Insurance information is required but no one will be denied due to lack of coverage or inability to pay. Please contact Nurse Danielle for more information.

This meeting will be to help 8th grade parents/guardians understand the changes as your child transitions into high school.


A reminder of our tour to the Caperton/Tech Center on Tuesday, Jan 30. Students be sure to be out front by 8:00am so we can load the buses and leave promptly at 8:10.

Now is a good time to start preparing for next school year. Students who are entering 7th and 12th grade, do not forget about your required vaccines(Tdap and Meningitis)! These are required before starting next school year. An annual comprehensive physical and dental exam are also required. Check in with your primary care provider to see if the vaccines have already been completed or to make an appointment for the exams and vaccines.
