Wood County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, January 14th, due to refreezing roadway conditions and low temperatures.
Correction: The January 13 edition of the *Parkersburg News & Sentinel* incorrectly stated that Wood County Schools would be adding an additional 30 minutes to the school day in relation to "equivalency time" for days missed due to inclement weather. In fact, Wood County Schools already incorporates 30 extra minutes into its regular school day, which can be used to account for missed instructional time. To be clear, Wood County Schools will not be adding 30 minutes to the end of any school day.

Wood County Schools has announced that pre-kindergarten (pre-k) registration for the 2025-2026 school year will commence on February 3, 2025. Children must be four years old by June 30, 2025 (or qualify for special education IEP services). The district offers free pre-kindergarten classes to eligible children, providing early childhood education to prepare them for future academic success. Parkersburg South will host a Mobile Dental Clinic on Nov 13-14. Any student that has not had a dental cleaning in 12 months may have a cleaning at the mobile dental unit with a parent signed consent form. Consent forms are available in Nurse Michele's office and the Counseling office. Also, we will conduct Parent Teacher conferences on Monday November 4th. Students will get conference forms today and tomorrow. Please fill out the form and return it to the school by 3:30pm on Friday November 1st. Conferences run from 11 am to 6:30 pm, with a teacher lunch break from 2 pm to 3 pm. Thank you and It's a Great Day To Be A Patriot.
