The Parkersburg High School JETS Team has participated in the TEAMS Best-in-Nation, and we are proud to announce that PHS JETS Team was awarded 3rd place in the Presentation component of the competition. There were 117 teams participating in the 2024 National TEAMS event. Team members included Grant Murphy, Smit Babariya, Nate McPeak, and Sophie Miller (L to R in picture). They are coached by Lisa Berry.

TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) is an annual science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) competition that challenges middle school and high school student teams to work collaboratively to solve real-world engineering challenges, applying their math and science knowledge in practical, creative ways.  Teams whose combined overall state level score was among the top nationally were eligible to compete for TEAMS Best-in-Nation at the 2024 National TEAMS Competitions. The National TEAMS Competition was held during the National Technology Student Association (TSA) Conference at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida June 26 - June 30, 2024. The competition components are based on scenarios and challenges relating to the 2024 competition theme "Engineering Another World." The competition included three components:

  • Presentation: Teams prepare a digital presentation describing their solution to an engineering challenge. This challenge was presented and completed  on-site.

  •  Design/Build: Teams complete a hands-on design challenge using designated materials provided on-site.

  • Multiple Choice Exam: Teams answer multiple choice math questions.

The PHS JETS team would like to thank the PHS staff and the community for their support in their quest to further excitement in STEM activities.
