Understanding Differences in Apple IDs

Wood County Schools educators use two Apple IDs, each offering access to valuable resources for classroom instruction and 200GB of iCloud storage. Here’s the difference:

Managed Apple ID (your.name@wood.k12.wv.us)

PROS

  • 200 GB iCloud storage

  • Syncs across devices and Apple Classroom

CONS

  • No access to the Apple App Store

Professional Apple ID (your.name@k12.wv.us)

PROS

  • Access to the App Store

CONS

  • No access to Apple Classroom

  • Only 5 GB iCloud storage

Why use both at the same time?

  • Using your Managed ID allows syncing files, images, and access to Apple Classroom across devices.
