Due to icy road conditions and frigid temperatures, Wood County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Wood County Schools' open enrollment process will change for the 2024-2025 school year. All open enrollment requests are to be made beginning on January 16 at noon on our website at woodcountyschoolswv.com/enrollment. The enrollment is also available on the WCS app. If your child currently attends a school out of district, or you would like for your child to attend a school out of district, you will need to complete an online application. If you child attends the school that corresponds to your home address, and you wish for this to continue, there is no action needed on your part.

Wood County Schools has been made aware of a viral threat being made about schools throughout the United States.
The threat does not specify any schools and have been received by school systems across the country the past several days, including areas of Texas, California and numerous schools in Ohio. Several West Virginia counties also have received or been made aware of similar messages.
Local officials are aware of the messages and have been in contact with West Virginia Homeland Security in Charleston. There is no credible threat at this time to any local schools.

2023 Vaping Prevention Poster and Video Contest Winners!
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "Youth use of tobacco products in any form is unsafe, irrespective of whether it is smoked, smokeless, or electronic. If smoking continues at current rates, 5.6 million—or 1 out of every 13—of today’s children will ultimately die prematurely from a smoking-related illness."
Wood County Schools' students created poster and video messages to demonstrate their knowledge and creativity to help send a message of choosing a life without vaping and that quitting can save a life.
Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone who participated in the contest!
