Now is the time of year that schools are scheduling end-of-year field trips. Supporting the partnership between families and Wood County Schools, our Parent and Engagement Policy (Policy 1210) was updated last year to clarify when background checks are required for parents, guardians, and other visitors.

According to Board policy, any visitor who may work with students without direct observation by a Wood County Schools employee, move through the school unaccompanied, or attend or chaperone a school-sponsored field trip must have a completed background check on file.

We encourage families to take advantage of volunteer and engagement opportunities and to review these updates so you can plan ahead if a background check is needed. Your participation is essential to fostering strong school-family partnerships, and we appreciate your commitment to creating a safe and enriching learning environment for all students. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school office or contact the Board Office at (304) 420-9663.
