UnPuzzled Parents Connect
Wood County Schools supports the work of UnPuzzled Parents Connect. Connect with them through Wood County Schools' Parent Educator Resource Center.
UnPuzzled Parents Connect was founded on the belief that no parent or caregiver should feel alone in raising a child with special needs. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to empower families and caregivers through education, connection, and advocacy. Whether through family-friendly events, workshops, or spaces for meaningful connections, we are committed to ensuring every family feels seen, heard, and supported. What makes us unique is our deep understanding of the challenges families face—from navigating services to overcoming isolation. We’ve been there, and we’re here to help with practical tools and emotional support to make this journey more manageable and fulfilling. UnPuzzled Parents Connect is more than a nonprofit—it’s a movement. You don’t have to navigate this journey alone. Together, we can connect, uplift, and inspire one another.

Organization for Autism Research
Part of the work of UnPuzzled Parents Connect is to provide Kit for Kids, developed by the Organization for Autism Research.
Our Kit for Kids program is designed to teach elementary and middle school students about their autistic peers. The kit is centered around an illustrated booklet entitled “What’s Up with Nick?” This colorful, kid-friendly booklet tells the story about a new student, an autistic boy named Nick, through the eyes of a typical peer. The story teaches children that autistic students may think differently or need some accommodations, but all students are of equal worth and should be treated as such. You can use this program to increase awareness of autism among students from grades K-8. With greater knowledge of autism, our youth will learn to see the person first rather than focus on a classmate’s disability. By increasing students’ acceptance of differences, the Kit for Kids creates a more inclusive classroom and overall sense of community.
