What is the GSA?

The West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA) is an annual online test administered to students in grades 3 – 8 near the end of the school year.

Its purpose is to gauge student achievement in alignment with the state's content standards, which establish clear and uniform expectations for student knowledge and skills at every grade level.

Who is Assessed?

The assessment evaluates students in grades 3 – 8 in the subjects of English language arts and mathematics. Additionally, students in grades 5 and 8 are also evaluated in the field of science.
