SCREENING PROCESS
If your child is enrolled in a Wood County Schools’ Pre-Kindergarten program, the teacher will complete a developmental screening at the beginning of the school year.
If you have specific concerns about your child’s hearing and/or ability to be understood by others, contact the school’s Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) to discuss your concerns and/or to request a screening.
Young children often do not know when they have vision problems. If your child has not had a vision evaluation by a health-care provider/eye doctor, or if you have a concern, contact the school nurse to request a vision screening.
EVALUATION PROCESS
If your child demonstrates a delay or area of concern during screening, you will be contacted to initiate a referral for a more comprehensive developmental and/or speech/language evaluation.
If your child is 3 to 5 years old and is NOT enrolled in Wood County Schools, he or she may be referred for a developmental and/or speech/language evaluation. Please contact the Office of Special Education.
