Madison is excited to start another school year! We will kick off Open House on Monday, Aug. 19th at 4pm with a short ceremony in front of the school to celebrate our school being named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School over the summer! A Leader in Me Lighthouse School is a school that has successfully implemented the Leader in Me program and achieved outstanding results. The Leader in Me and 7 Habits is a model that Madison uses to help students develop leadership and life skills, build resilience, and improve academic achievement.
We will have the Kona Ice Truck here for parents and students to purchase a treat before or after they meet their teachers. All proceeds from the Kona Ice will go towards our Madison PTA. We will also announce a couple of spirit days and invite all past and present students, staff, and parents to attend our hosting of the Board Meeting on Aug. 27th at 6pm at Madison. We can't wait to see you all on Monday!

It’s time for our 3rd- 4th grade students to take the West Virginia Summative Assessment (WVGSA). Students will test Wednesday, May 15th and Thursday, May 16th. Please help us encourage students to perform their best on testing days. Please help make sure students are well rested, on time, and have eaten breakfast or eat a school breakfast. Students should not be signed out for appointments on these days either. If you have any questions please contact your students teacher.
Leadership Day is Wednesday starting at 1pm!
Please join us on Wednesday for our Leadership Day program, Blasting into Leadership! All K- 5th grade students will sing and student council will perform their skit "Lessons from the Solar System". Parents can visit students classroom after the program then sign them out early with the teacher at 2:30. This event is sponsored by Title 1.

All Wood County Schools after-school and evening activities will be CANCELLED tonight (Tuesday, April 2, 2024) due to incoming inclement weather. Schools will dismiss at their normal times today.
Couple of reminders for this week:
Tomorrow students March Madness Bingo reading papers are due. They must be turned in by April 4th to be eligible for a prize! 3rd- 5th grade track try-outs are tomorrow after school. Students need to have their permission slips to try-out.
Friday, April 5th are the 3rd Nine Week Awards and Spelling Bee. Parents are welcome to attend: 3rd Awards will start at 8:30am followed by the 2nd- 3rd grade Spelling Bee
4th & 5th Awards will start at 9:30 am followed by the Spelling Bee.
Upcoming Events and Changes:
Next week is Book Fair week! Mrs. Tucker sent home envelopes for you to use to send money or e-wallet money for students to shop. Please use those envelopes to send all money so nothing is misplaced. Parent shopping night will be Thursday, March 21st after school until 4:30pm.
Change- Our Spelling Bee and Awards has been moved from March 22nd- April 5th:

Dismissal reminders: Please avoid blocking driveways of residents around the school. In the entrance if you are in the pick up line, please move over to the right as far as you can to allow busses and other traffic to enter the parking lot.
Spring Break is March 25th- April 1st!
Parents are asked to complete an online survey about school climate the learning and teaching/working conditions at Madison, to help guide school improvement efforts. The results of this survey will be used to make changes in their child's school to ensure a supportive environment for teaching and learning.
