To celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday (March 2), fourth graders at Madison enjoyed many Dr. Seuss' books. On Monday, they listened to "And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street" which was read-aloud by Mayor Tom Joyce. On Tuesday, they were inspired by the Wood County Parkersburg librarian, Miss Charley Smith. She read aloud one of her favorite books, "Horton Hears a Who." Students were given a bookmark, a craft and a notepad. To finish out the week, Wood County Schools LMS Technology Coordinator, Miss Amber Matty read aloud "Bartholomew and the Oobleck." Students enjoyed this Dr. Seuss book, followed a recipe to make oobleck, discussed states of matter, and created acrostic poetry in the app, Pic Party on their iPads using their four senses. What a way to celebrate an author's birthday by having lots of books, volunteer readers, and kids!
