Sunday Night Announcement; 01/12/24

Good evening, Martin Ram families. This is Principal Tom Wheeler with a weekend update and a look at the week coming up.

Well, I never imagined that when I sent out my message last Sunday evening that we would have five days of no school due to weather. Even as I am recording THIS message, there is another storm predicted to come in over the weekend, and who knows what that will end up doing to our school schedule. I guess we will wait and see. Know that all decisions that are made about whether school should be in session or not are made after checking roads throughout the county and the ability to bring buses out. Thoughts about the safety of our students and the school personnel are what drives those decisions.

Now, on to some updates for this week. First, I’ve been notified that the school menu has been adjusted due to school being cancelled. We will create a new menu calendar and send it out as soon as we return to school. In the meantime, parents can get on the Wood County Schools website to see what’s coming up.

According to my calendar, the boys’ basketball team was set to begin their season this week, with the first game being tomorrow, Monday, January 13th. I’m confident to say that’s not going to happen. We have barely had time to practice, and we haven’t even passed out uniforms. Look for adjustments to be made and updates sent out.

Also, Wednesday of this week marks the end of the 2nd 9 weeks grading period. It is likely that will be moved back a week also. Weather cancellations sure do cause a bunch of confusion.

Before I end this phone call for this evening, let me take a peek into next week. Next Monday, January 20th is a no school day in honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. That one has been on the calendar all along.
