Calendar update: In order to account for missed school days due to inclement weather, students will now attend school on May 31 as well as June 3 and 4. Preschool will attend May 28 and 29. For staff, June 5 will be a curriculum development day (students do not attend) and June 6 will be a day to prepare for the end of the school year (students do not attend).

We want to give our surrounding communities an opportunity to meet our staff, discuss preschool registration, and tour our facility. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders will be completing a General Summative Assessment writing practice test tomorrow, February 27th. Additionally, they will be completing the official GSA writing portion on March 5th. We look forward to this opportunity for our Braves. Our expectation is exceptional attendance, effort, and achievement. Thank you for helping us get them prepared! Pre-Kindergarten enrollment begins next Monday, March 4th. Please help us spread the word! Our next Brave House Gives Back project begins today! We are collecting items for The Humane Society of Parkersburg. Wood County Schools Music Fair participants in Grades 4 and 5 please have your permission slip and t-shirt form submitted by Friday, 2/16/24. IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Wood County Board of Education will meet in special session Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, to conduct candidate interviews and appoint an interim board member to a vacant seat. The board has consulted with the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wood County Clerk’s Office and has been advised, due to election cycle deadlines, a selection must be made by February 12, 2024. The online application period for those interested in applying for the interim position will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, February 12. The board meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. to announce the candidates and interviews will begin at 6:00 p.m. An appointment announcement will follow the completion of the interviews on February 12. Those submitting an application by Sunday, February 11, will be informed of their interview time before 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12. Applicants submitting applications on Monday, February 12, will be contacted as applications are received throughout the day to have interviews arranged for that evening.

Wood County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, January 22, 2024.

Wood County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 19, 2024 due to inclement weather.

Due to icy road conditions and frigid temperatures, Wood County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Open enrollment starts today. Complete the form at woodcountyschoolswv.com/enrollment. Need some assistance or do not have access to the form? Visit your school office. The central office, at 1210 13th St. in Parkersburg, is another option for assistance with completing the form.

Open Enrollment begins at noon today (Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024). If you would like your child to attend a school outside of your current attendance zone, you must complete the online enrollment form. The link opens at noon today.

Wood County Schools' open enrollment process will change for the 2024-2025 school year. All open enrollment requests are to be made beginning on January 16 at noon on our website at woodcountyschoolswv.com/enrollment. The enrollment is also available on the WCS app. If your child currently attends a school out of district, or you would like for your child to attend a school out of district, you will need to complete an online application. Although the form is simple to complete, if you feel you may need some assistance with the application process, or you do not have access to a device or the internet, all secretaries at our schools have an iPad and can assist you beginning at noon on Tuesday, January 16. If you child attends the school that corresponds to your home address, and you wish for this to continue, there is no action needed on your part.
