We have a partnership with WVUP that offers one-on-one tutoring for our kindergarten - 5th students Tuesdays & Thursdays 2:45 - 4:00. If I haven't contacted you and you would like your child to participate in the next semester beginning the end of January, please call the school ASAP. Because the tutors are being graded on their work, it is important that Fairplains' students attend each session so the tutors can complete their assignments. Please call me if you would like your child to participate. Thank you!
Parents who signed up for meal boxes, please pick them up today by 2:00. We don't have any extra boxes at this time.
The basketball coach cannot be here today. Basketball practice is cancelled today, 12/12.
A notice went home yesterday about 5 breakfast and lunch meals provided for the Christmas Break. We must have the forms returned by Friday, 12/6, to make sure we have enough boxes for everyone. Each child must return a form.

A friendly reminder to parents dropping off students for school before 8 AM. If you need to get out of your car to assist your child, please pull past the crosswalk to park. The area before the crosswalk is reserved for parents who can drop their children quickly without getting out of the car. Thank you!
We have 2 binders of information from Wood County BOE with information about the possible closure of Fairplains Elementary at the end of this school year. These binders are available in the office and if you're interested we will give you a space at Fairplains to look at them. The information is also available at WCS on 13th St. Our hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23 at 7:30 PM at Fairplains. If you would like to speak at this hearing, you need to sign a speaker card at 7:00 PM. The decision will be announced at Jackson Middle School after the hearing on Oct. 24.
Good morning! This afternoon we will have lock-out and lockdown drills. Please don't be alarmed if your child mentions this to you after school. We are practicing so we know the procedures if we need to go into a real lock-out or lockdown.
Dear Wood County Schools’ families: Thank you for your courage, patience, and understanding this week as our school personnel and law enforcement agencies worked together to keep our schools safe. We are fortunate for the relationship between our school system and law enforcement. Wood County Schools would like to express gratitude and appreciation for the law enforcement agencies throughout our county and state who provided support to Wood County Schools this week. Thank you to the Parkersburg Police Department, Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Vienna Police Department, Williamstown Police Department, and the Capitol Police. -- Christie M. Willis -- Superintendent
