A verbal threat was reported to administrators at Blennerhassett Middle School. School administrators investigated and found no credible evidence of a threat to any student at Blennerhassett Middle School or any student in Wood County Schools. This threat does not involve Blennerhassett Elementary School. Wood County Schools takes all threats seriously.

Wood County Schools strives to maintain a safe, orderly and supportive school environment every day so that our students may maximize their learning and achievement. When there is a disruption to the school environment, our goal is to keep the public informed while also maintaining the confidentiality of student information as required by law. Early this afternoon, a Blennerhassett Middle School student repeatedly made threats of violence against students and staff while at school. Principal Matt Null swiftly investigated this matter and secured the assistance of the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. The student was charged, removed from school grounds, and brought before a judge this afternoon. The student will not be returning to any school in Wood County. Superintendent Willis wishes to thank the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Prosecutor’s Office and Circuit Court for their professionalism and commitment to keeping our schools safe.

Good afternoon, We wanted to make sure we are all on the same page for our school's drop off procedures. The front doors unlock at 7:20am. Please do not drop your child until 7:20am, there is no supervision for students. Beginning on Monday, September 9th, if your child is in grades K-5, and arrives after 8:05am they will have to be signed in through the main office by an adult. After 8:05am students will be considered tardy. When dropping off a student in the morning, please pull all of the way up to let your children out. This lane is a drop off only lane. If you must get out of the vehicle for any reason, please pull in to a parking spot to avoid backing up traffic. Please have your child ready to exit the vehicle once you have stopped to prevent traffic from backing up. Students are not permitted to cross the parking lot on their own. They must be accompanied by an adult. If you must walk your student in, please use the crosswalk in front of the school. Students should not be dropped off at any other location. All vehicles must enter at the front school entrance on Jewell Road and follow the flow of traffic through to the exit. The side entrance to the school, is NOT to be used for drop offs or turn arounds. Speed should not exceed 10 mph. Please watch for pedestrians crossing. Thank you for your cooperation.

Just a reminder......yearbooks will not be delivered until summer. This allowed us to include spring activities. The school will send out a message when they are ready for pick up.

Good morning, This is a friendly reminder that for field day on Friday, if you would like your child to have sunscreen, you must send in sunscreen for them. Students must also have a signed permission slip that was provided by Nurse Sabrina, allowing your child to have the sunscreen that you provide. We cannot provide anyone with sunscreen.; this is WCS policy. Please write your child's name on their sunscreen bottle. Thank you and have a great day!
